Saudi Arabia’s NWC begins implementation of $1.1 billion desalinated water distribution projects
The implementation phase of the desalinated water distribution system projects in Dammam, Al-Khobar, Al-Ahsa, and Qatif was started by Saudi Arabia’s National Water Company (NWC) in the beginning of December 2022, according to a statement from NWC.
The projects, according to the state-owned utility services provider, are projected to cost more than 4.3 billion Saudi Riyals ($1.14 billion) in total and take between 14 and 26 months to complete, providing services to up to four million people.
In addition to measures to enhance water networks, the projects involve the building of operating reservoirs with a capacity of 1.5 million cubic meters and the implementation of more than 316 kilometers of conveyor and main lines.
The company emphasized that it will contribute to strengthening the infrastructure of the distribution system and ensuring the efficiency of its operations in the cities and governorates of the Eastern Region.
The company stated that these projects will be implemented using the best and latest technologies, in coordination and integration between all relevant authorities to ensure the speed of completion of projects and maximize the benefit from them.
