Kempsey progresses $37M Stuarts Point Sewerage Scheme

Following the successful purchase of the project site and the hiring of a new director, Kempsey Shire Council has set aside $37.2 million for the building of its Stuarts Point Sewerage Scheme.

The villages of Stuarts Point, Grassy Head and Fishermans Reach in New South Wales will be served by the Stuarts Point Sewerage Scheme.

Michael Jackson, the recently hired Director of Operations and Planning for the Council, who has over 25 years of experience managing multidisciplinary teams, most recently at Penrith City Council, will be in charge of it.

In order to build sewerage plants, the project’s former crown property, which is situated on Fishermans Reach Road, must be at least 400m from surrounding residences.

Before continuing with their promise to complete the sewerage scheme, Council will submit an application to the Minister and Governor to secure the site and then categorize this as operational land.

Tenders for the building of the Stuarts Point Sewerage Scheme are anticipated to be released between 2022 and 2023, with operations beginning in 2024.
