Xylem’s Director to Present at the 2024 Europump Annual Conference.

Mike Otten, Xylem’s Director of Edge and Intelligence, has been announced as the third keynote speaker at the European Pump Association (Europump) annual meeting.

This event, representing 15 national associations across Europe, is scheduled to take place at the De Vere Beaumont estate near Windsor, UK from May 22-24, 2024.

As a member of Xylem’s corporate growth and innovation team, Otten is focused on the digital transformation of water systems through artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and digital twins. His presentation at the annual meeting will center on harnessing the power of AI to enhance expertise in pump manufacturing.

Otten will discuss the utilization of digital twins and generative AI in the sector, detailing how these technologies optimize asset performance, predict maintenance requirements, and drive efficiency gains across various pump systems.

With extensive experience working and residing in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the US, and having been involved with global water technology OEMs and two start-up businesses, Otten is dedicated to accelerating customers’ digital journey in optimizing water assets and systems on a large scale.

His expertise in water technology enables him to address challenges related to asset management and the total system life cycle cost through the digitalization of assets and advanced data intelligence.

The annual meeting, hosted by the British Pump Manufacturers Association (BPMA) and sponsored by motors and generators company WEG, will offer sessions covering technical, standards, marketing, and SME Europump commissions, catering to the international pump sector.

BPMA CEO Wayne Rose said, “We are thrilled to have secured the engagement of Otten, a recognised expert in the field of digitisation, whose exploration of the transformative impact this technology has for business operations, cost reduction, and customer satisfaction, will be of real value to our audience.”

Other keynote speakers at the event include Make UK CEO Stephen Phipson, who will provide an overview of the UK’s political landscape and its impact on the manufacturing sector domestically and internationally, and Kiran Ahmed, lead economist at Oxford Economics, who will present the key findings from the 2024 World Pump report.
