Aganova, a major firm specializing in advanced leak detection and the assessment of pipeline conditions for large-diameter water systems, is launching its first project in Greece. The company will support Volos Water Supply and Sewerage Company (DEYAMB) in evaluating a key wastewater transmission pipeline in Volos.
The initiative will address roughly 8 kilometres of DN800 pipe and is intended to identify and precisely pinpoint leaks along the wastewater transmission main. The inspection is planned for this autumn.
The pipeline includes two materials: about 600 metres of polyethylene, followed by 7.4 kilometres of asbestos cement. Aganova will use its in-line pipeline inspection technology to deliver accurate, practical findings to DEYAMB to aid the management and maintenance of this vital infrastructure.
Although much of Aganova’s global activity focuses on drinking water networks, the Volos project shows how advanced pipeline inspection and leak detection technologies can be applied to wastewater systems. Finding leaks and improving knowledge of pipeline condition can help utilities set maintenance priorities, enhance operational efficiency, and lower environmental and operational risks.
“This first project in Greece marks another meaningful milestone in Aganova’s international development and reinforces our role in Europe,” said Marcos Barrera, CEO of Aganova. “The Volos project will enable us to demonstrate our technology’s capabilities in large-diameter wastewater pipelines. Moving forward with ONFLOW as well provides the local expertise we need to establish a strong presence in the Greek market.”
Aganova’s launch in the Greek market is backed by its partnership with ONFLOW I.K.E., a Greek firm focused on pipeline inspection, maintenance, and repairs.
Together, Aganova and ONFLOW seek to make advanced pipeline assessment and leak detection resources more accessible to Greek water utilities—combining Aganova’s technology and international know-how with ONFLOW’s understanding of the local market and existing pipeline infrastructure.
“Water and wastewater utilities are increasingly demanding more precise information on the condition of their essential pipelines to support smarter maintenance and investment decisions,” said Nikolaos Artavanis, Development Director at ONFLOW I.K.E. “Our cooperation with Aganova delivers tested in-line inspection solutions to Greece, and the Volos project is an important starting point for showing the benefits these technologies can offer to utilities in the country.”
The Volos initiative is a new highlight in Aganova’s global growth, reaffirming its commitment to working with local partners and helping utilities by providing advanced pipeline inspection solutions for both drinking water and wastewater networks.
