SHARAKAT is pleased to announce that five competitive bids have been received for the Riyadh East Independent Sewage Treatment Plant (ISTP) project in Riyadh. The bids were submitted by consortiums made up of both local and international companies, namely:
1- Consortium: (Miahona Company, Marafiq, and Bin Omairah Holding).
2- Consortium: (GS Inima Environment SA and Alkhorayef Water and Power Technologies).
3- Consortium: (Metito Utilities Limited, Etihad Water and Electricity Company PJSC and TamimCo).
4- Consortium: (Suez, Civil Works Company, and Al Awael Modern Contracting Company).
5- Consortium: (Lamar Holding WLL and China Harbour Engineering Company).
The proposals will now undergo a thorough assessment to select the successful consortium. After the preferred bidders are announced, contracts will be finalized, and project development is expected to begin next year, with commercial operations planned for 2030.
The Riyadh East ISTP has an initial design capacity of 200,000 cubic meters per day, with the ability to expand to 400,000 cubic meters per day. The scope also includes systems for reusing treated sewage effluent (TSE), including transmission pipelines, to maximize water reuse across multiple applications—especially agricultural irrigation throughout the Kingdom.
This achievement follows the issuance of the Request for Proposal (RFP) documents in October 2025, reflecting SHARAKAT’s commitment to strengthening water infrastructure through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) under a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) structure for a period of 25 years.
SHARAKAT reiterates its dedication to attracting both local and international investment, and to expanding private-sector partnership opportunities in developing essential infrastructure projects and improving services. These initiatives support the goals of the National Water Strategy and the National Privatization Strategy, particularly by enabling increased private-sector involvement in the development and operation of infrastructure, while advancing the aims of Saudi Vision 2030.
