TAIF Independent Sewage Treatment Plant begins the period of operation

The wastewater treatment facility in the Saudi Arabian city of Taif, developed by Tedagua and Tawzea, started operating after the building was finished on schedule.

Tedagua and Tawzea built a 100,000 m3/day wastewater treatment facility.

In addition to having cutting-edge technology and distinctive architecture, the project has gained strategic value because it is the first facility to use the public-private partnership (PPP) model, an essential tactic for achieving the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Agenda 2030.

Traditional pretreatment and primary treatment methods are used at the facility, along with continuous flow SBR secondary treatment employing WATERLEAU’s Lucas® technology, tertiary filtering and disinfection methods, and anaerobic digestion for sludge treatment.

Additionally, it contains solar drying equipment that permits the production of dry waste with a dehydration percentage of over 90% and a biogas cogeneration system that can produce more than 30% of the plant’s capacity.

These solutions increase energy efficiency while simultaneously reducing the facility’s energy impact.

The project has acquired a strategic relevance, as it is the first facility to enter into operation under the public-private partnership (PPP) model

A 21-hectare green area was also planted as part of the project, with the treated water being used for irrigation.

This was carried out to support the Kingdom’s efforts to achieve net zero carbon emissions and to advance the Saudi Green Initiative.

The Saudi Water Partnership Company, along with the other project participants Tawzea and Cobra Instalaciones Y Servicios, deserve to know how much the entire Tedagua team appreciates their support in getting the job done.

Tedagua continues to carry out its commitment to responsible building with the least detrimental impact on the environment while preserving its standards of quality and customer service to its clients and society at large.
