White Paper Validates Innovative Oxygen Transfer Technology

A market-leading, cutting-edge gas infusion technology for the treatment of water and wastewater has been published in an industry-verified white paper that validates the oxygen transfer efficiency of the system.

Fuel Tech Inc., a U.S. engineering firm, developed the patented Dissolved Gas Infusion (DGI) technology to offer a highly effective replacement to current aeration technologies for use in utility and industrial applications.

DGI delivers greater than 99% transfer of oxygen when used on a treated body of water, according to validation testing.

To ensure optimal and exact gas distribution to targeted water and wastewater operations, two patent-pending technologies are combined.

A newer pressured saturator for gas transfer of the oxygen solution to a slipstream of water is one of these.

Another is a creative nozzle delivery system for oxygenated water distribution that almost eliminates gas loss from a specific body of water.

The Environmental & Waters Research Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and its Environmental & Waters Research Institute validated procedures were used to evaluate the trademarked DGI technology (EWRI).

The tests’ findings, which were approved by professionals in the field and subjected to peer review, showed that:

1-99% of the oxygen supplied to the DGI system was delivered to a treatment reservoir as dissolved oxygen with no loss to the atmosphere, within described measurements of uncertainties.

2-The DGI channel injector effectively transferred the oxygen-infused water stream to reservoir water while located only twenty-four inches below the water surface.

3-There was no measurable loss of oxygen to the environment, no visible bubbles, and no delay in the availability of the supplied oxygen to react in the aqueous phase.

DGI provides an energy-efficient and economically viable water and wastewater treatment system by combining industry-leading oxygen transfer efficiency with pinpoint accuracy.

This state-of-the-art technique pre-dissolves high-purity gas in a separate pressurized slipstream to accomplish its 99% gas transfer rate.

The main body of water is added to the oxygen-infused slipstream, which has an oxygen concentration of up to 900 mg/l and is subsequently diluted to meet exact customer requirements.

DGI is equipped with specially created high-velocity channel injectors that help hold gas and optimize distribution in order to provide high oxygen saturation rates.

In a variety of water and wastewater treatment applications across various industries, such as municipal utilities, agriculture, environment, pulp & paper, food & beverage, upstream oil & gas, and landfill management, DGI can function as a rapid response option or supplement underperforming legacy technologies.

Regulation compliance, water preservation, biological treatment, odor reduction, chemical replacement in wastewater treatment, and general improvement in water quality for people and the environment are just a few of the issues the technology can help with.

According to Vincent Arnone, president, and CEO of Fuel Tech, “This validation study is a key element of the ongoing DGI business development plan.

Fuel Tech is on track to meet its 2023 product commercialization target and has started looking for a skilled executive in water and wastewater treatment to advance DGI.

The exceptional computational fluid dynamics modeling capabilities used by Fuel Tech Inc., a company based in Illinois and its end-to-end service are enhanced by high-end visualization software that was developed in-house.
