Southern Water has awarded contracts worth £540 million for wastewater services to three companies, aimed at improving the efficiency of its wastewater network in the South East. These contracts, which encompass four critical workstreams, are part of the company’s strategy for the upcoming 2025-2030 spending period in the industry.
The total value of the contracts is around £540 million, divided into four distinct lots of work. Lanes Group will handle maintenance and manhole services, while Cappagh Browne will manage sewer rehabilitation projects. McAllister Bros will concentrate on sewer sealing tasks.
These collaborations will guarantee the provision of vital frontline sewer services, including emergency responses and the repair of existing sewer systems. The companies will closely collaborate with Southern Water to improve both environmental outcomes and customer satisfaction.
Alex Saunders, Head of Wastewater Networks at Southern Water, stated: “We are thrilled to have formed partnerships with leading suppliers who excel in their specific technical fields. These agreements position Southern Water to fulfill the service expectations of our customers and will assist us in achieving our environmental improvement goals for the future.”
The contracts are scheduled to commence in April 2025 and will encompass the entire AMP8 (Asset Management Period 8), which extends to 2030, with potential for further extensions.
