Nama PWP wins $325 million deal for Ghubrah 3 desalination plant in Oman
Nama Power and Water Procurement Company (Nama PWP) of Oman has been awarded a contract worth RO 125 million (about $325 million) to build the Ghubrah 3 desalination plant, as reported by Zawya.
With an estimated daily production capacity of 300,000 cubic meters, the plant will enhance the country’s water security and promote sustainable infrastructure.
Spanning across 70.4 thousand square meters, Ghubrah 3 is set to become the largest desalination plant in Oman.
It is scheduled to start operating in the first quarter of 2027 and will be accompanied by related projects, including a 45,000 cubic meter potable water reservoir.
“The Ghubrah 3 desalination plant exemplifies our dedication to ensuring a sustainable and reliable water supply for our communities,” said Eng Abdulaziz bin Said al Shidhani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nama Power and Water Procurement Company.

“By leveraging the latest technologies and fostering collaboration with industry leaders, we are poised to achieve new milestones in water production and energy efficiency,” he added.
The construction of the Ghubrah 3 desalination plant will be led by the Capital Desalination Company, which consists of GS Inima, Jemaih Energy, and Sogex Company.
Marta Verde, the Chairperson of the Capital Desalination Company and CEO of GS Inima, stated, “Our consortium is committed to providing effective, sustainable solutions that will enhance water security and support environmental conservation.”
Nama Power and Water Procurement has emerged as a significant player in Oman’s shift towards renewable energy sources and carbon neutrality, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and environmental conservation.
The company actively contributes to national goals outlined in Vision Oman 2040 through its initiatives in solar and wind energy projects.
