Arevon and San Diego Community Power Partner for Groundbreaking Avocet Energy Storage Project

Arevon Energy, Inc., a well-known company specializing in renewable energy, has established a 15-year partnership with San Diego Community Power (SDCP), the second largest community choice aggregator in California, to deliver energy storage services through the Avocet Energy Storage Project.

Located in Carson, California, this project is poised to become the largest in SDCP’s portfolio, with a capacity of 200 megawatts (MW) and 800 megawatt-hours (MWh), and is expected to be operational by the second quarter of 2026.

The Avocet project, which utilizes Tesla’s Megapack technology, aims to improve grid stability by storing energy during periods of low demand and releasing it during peak times, thereby preventing potential blackouts.

This project, marking Arevon’s second collaboration with SDCP, will have a significant positive impact on the local economy by creating approximately 75 union construction jobs and generating over $35 million in property tax revenue, which will benefit local government initiatives and education.

The facility is expected to provide power to around 45,000 homes for up to four hours daily, in line with the shared goal of Arevon and SDCP to offer clean, reliable, and affordable energy while also supporting the economic and social well-being of the community.

This initiative highlights the increasing importance of energy storage systems in enhancing grid reliability and facilitating the shift towards renewable energy sources.
