Upgrades totaling £4.5 million to safeguard watercourses in County Durham

Northumbrian Water is commencing a £4.5m upgrade at Sacriston Sewage Treatment Works.

The anticipated eight-month project aims to enhance the site’s performance and resilience, safeguarding the South Burn and other downstream watercourses.

Galliford Try, Northumbrian Water’s partner, will execute the work on-site. Project Manager Paul Davison affirmed that the upgrade will maintain a dependable and robust service for the local community.

This investment exemplifies the company’s commitment to environmental protection and safeguarding watercourses in the North East region.

Customers have been informed about the project to minimize disruptions, although some additional traffic to and from the works may be noticeable during this period.
