Saudi’s SWPC receives bids for massive Ras Mohaisen IWP in Makkah.

SWPC has announced the reception of bids for the Ras Mohaisen Independent Water Plant (IWP) in Saudi Arabia’s Western Province, located 300 kilometers south of Makkah on the Red Sea coastline.

The plant is anticipated to produce 300,000 cubic meters of potable water daily and will feature storage tanks with a capacity of 600,000 cubic meters, along with an electrical power substation.

ACCIONA and a consortium consisting of ACWA Power, Haji Abdullah Alireza & Partners Company, and AlKifah Holding have submitted proposals for the project. The developer’s responsibilities encompass the entire lifecycle of the project, including development, financing, procurement, implementation, operation, and maintenance.

SWPC will secure the project’s output and capacity under a 25-year Water Purchase Agreement (WPA), with commercial operations expected to commence in the second quarter of 2028. The Saudi Arabian government will provide a credit support agreement to reinforce SWPC’s commitments under the WPA.

KPMG Al Fozan & Partners serves as the financial adviser to SWPC, with support from Eversheds Sutherland (International) LLP for legal counsel and WSP for technical advisory services.
