RPC collaborates with Altea Green Power on a 1GW battery storage project in Italy

Renewable Power Capital (RPC), a UK-based pan-European renewables developer, has partnered with Altea Green Power for 1GW of battery energy storage in Italy, expanding RPC’s European storage pipeline to over 5.5GW.

The collaboration with local municipalities and stakeholders aims to achieve ready-to-build status between 2025 and 2027, potentially extending beyond the initial 1GW or into other technologies, aligning with RPC’s decarbonisation strategy.

RPC CEO Kevin Devlin expressed, “Entering the Italian storage market through this partnership aligns with our flexible approach and capitalizes on the regulatory progress and growth opportunities.” Altea Green Power CEO Giovanni Di Pascale added, “This co-development agreement strengthens our BESS projects and overall power capacity, benefiting from partnerships with established international investors in renewables.”

Additionally, RPC has made BESS investments in Finland and the UK, with capacities of 50MW and 57MW, respectively. In December 2023, RPC partnered with Elmya Energy to develop 4GW of BESS and solar photovoltaic assets in the UK, supported by Elmya’s 2.5GW pipeline.

Italy’s Ministry for Environment and Energy Security approved the 7SeasMed floating offshore wind project led by Copenhagen Offshore Partners (CIP), owned by a consortium including GreenIT, a JV between Plenitude, CDP Equity, and CIP.
