Orsted partners with ABL for Greater Changhua wind farms

For the purpose of providing MWS for the offshore transportation and installation (T&I) of wind turbines and cables for the 920MW Greater Changhua 2b and 4 offshore wind farms in Taiwan, Orsted has selected energy and maritime consultancy ABL.

All operations pertaining to the T&Is of wind turbines and subsea cables are reviewed, surveyed, and approved by ABL.

After ABL was appointed MWS for the 900 MW Greater Changhua 1 and 2a offshore wind farms, which were finished in 2022, comes the most recent contract.

66 fixed-bottom wind turbines will be installed as part of the Greater Changhua 2b and 4 projects, and they will be positioned at water depths ranging from 23.8 to 44.1 meters.

The two offshore wind farms, which are situated 35–60 km off Changhua County’s coast, began building in March 2023 following Orsted’s 920MW projects’ final investment decision (FID).

The developer said in the press release announcing the FID: “The Greater Changhua 2b and 4 projects will be funded by capital provided by the Ørsted Group combined with debt capital sourced from the domestic Taiwanese market – backed by an Ørsted A/S parent company guarantee.”
