Luminous has launched a solar panel factory in India

Luminous Power Technologies, an energy solutions company, has established a state-of-the-art solar panel factory in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, India, covering 10 acres.

The factory, with an initial capacity of 250 MW and expandable up to 1 GW, can produce various types of panels such as polycrystalline, monocrystalline, N-type, and tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) panels, including monofacial and bifacial variants with busbar options ranging from five to 16.

The company aims to meet the diverse rooftop solar panel needs of residential and commercial sectors, aligning with the launch of the residential rooftop solar scheme ‘PM Suryodaya Yojana’ by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Commissioned within a record nine months, the new plant is equipped with advanced manufacturing technologies and EL testing facilities on-site. Additionally, it will house a cutting-edge lab for evaluating PV module performance efficiency and reliability.

Luminous Power Technologies CEO Preeti Bajaj stated that: “The inauguration of the solar panel factory in Rudrapur marks a significant step for Luminous towards contributing to India’s journey to Net-Zero.

Our investment in this modern facility demonstrates our strong commitment to sustainable practices and reducing carbon emissions. Solar energy will play a vital role in our business growth strategy, aiming to double our growth over the next three years.”

Furthermore, Luminous Power Technologies has entered into a strategic collaboration with the University of New South Wales in Australia to concentrate on enhancing reliability, value engineering, and component qualification. This partnership involves assessing emerging solar panel technologies and panel recycling methods.
