Iberdrola strengthens its commitment to energy efficiency education in Brazil

Iberdrola is strengthening its commitment to energy efficiency education in Brazil through its subsidiary, Neoenergia, which is encouraging educational institutions to participate in the 2026 edition of the National Energy Efficiency Olympiad (ONEE).

The initiative promotes responsible energy consumption, sustainability, and innovation among young people through educational challenges and gamification. It is promoted by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) through its Energy Efficiency Programme and coordinated by the Brazilian Association of Electric Power Distributors (Abradee).

Neoenergia is developing educational activities in schools to encourage safe and conscious electricity use. The activities connect education with real-world challenges related to the energy transition and involve both students and teachers in topics covering energy efficiency, sustainability, and innovation.

The initiative brings together Neoenergia’s distribution companies along with 43 other electricity utilities, supporting efforts to bring energy efficiency closer to students and teachers in public and private schools across Brazil.

The National Energy Efficiency Olympiad has become Brazil’s largest initiative focused on energy efficiency education, with more than 490,000 students participating, over 8,500 schools involved, and a presence in more than 1,000 municipalities.
