FreePower Group’s Leones Solar Project Pioneers Sustainable Energy Solutions in Chile

FreePower Group, a well-known energy company in Chile, has announced the development of the Leones Solar photovoltaic project, which is expected to generate 100 MW of electricity.

Located in the Papudo commune in Chile’s Valparaíso region, this groundbreaking project seeks to transform the energy supply landscape by incorporating a storage system for energy.

FreePower Group recently announced that their project’s design allows for the supply of power to a specific customer at a consistent rate, effectively reducing the increasing systemic transmission fees.

By utilizing a mix of solar generation, storage capacity, and purchasing from other renewable sources on the grid, FreePower Group expects to provide more than 60% of the energy through a Behind the Meter (DoM) agreement.

The Leones Solar project has received definitive connection authorization and is now undergoing an environmental impact assessment.

FreePower Group expects to receive project approval by early 2025, representing a major achievement in promoting sustainable energy efforts in the area.
