Aqualia names Santiago Lafuente the new CEO

Aqualia’s Board of Directors has appointed Santiago Lafuente Pérez-Lucas as the new CEO of the company, succeeding Félix Parra. Santiago Lafuente, who previously served as the Director for Spain, will assume his new role on April 9, 2024.

With over 30 years of experience within the citizen services group, Santiago Lafuente is a Civil Engineering graduate from the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

Additionally, he holds a master’s degree in End-to-end Water Plant Management from CEDEX and has completed studies in Project Financial Model Analysis at IESE and EOI.

Throughout his career at Aqualia, Santiago Lafuente has held various key positions, including Area Director, Director of the Central-North delegation, and responsibilities for Wastewater Production and Treatment in Spain.

He is actively involved in the water management sector and currently serves as the Vice President of the Spanish Association of Water Supply Companies (AGA).

The Board of Directors expresses gratitude to Félix Parra for his contributions as CEO since 2013, recognizing his role in Aqualia’s growth and success. Aqualia, owned by FCC (51%) and IFM Investors (49%), is a leading water management company operating in 18 countries and serving 45.2 million users worldwide.

Recently awarded “Best Water Company of the year 2023,” Aqualia ranks as the fourth largest water company in Europe by population served and the ninth largest globally according to Global Water Intelligence (December 2022).
