ABB & Samotics Enter Strategic Partnership
The equipment and technologies for condition monitoring are being improved through combined efforts.
ABB and Samotics, a Dutch company that offers ESA technology, have partnered in a strategic long-term relationship to provide improved condition monitoring services.
The strategy will use each company’s strengths to provide additional information about machine health and energy efficiency.
The plug-and-play monitoring solution from Samotics will be incorporated by ABB into its digital offering as a first step.
The agreement’s financial details weren’t made public.
The sensor-based ABB Ability Condition Monitoring service for powertrains, which assesses the health and performance of rotating equipment, and Samotics’ technology are complementary.
Because it doesn’t require installing sensors in the field, Samotics’ SAM4 technology, which is based on electrical signature analysis (ESA), will expand ABB’s application of asset health monitoring of motor-driven industrial equipment.
SAM4 can therefore be installed on devices operating in hostile and submerged settings.
The president of ABB Motion Services, Adrian Guggisberg, stated: “Our objective is to develop an ecosystem with top service providers who can contribute to the general success of our customers.
Together with Samotics, we want to co-create digital services that will provide even more insight across a more extensive range of applications to aid in our client’s decision-making.
Additionally, the alliance will increase the value of digital service solutions to boost our recurring annual revenues.
“A strategic alliance with ABB will open doors with potential clients throughout the world and help us scale our business,” stated Jasper Hoogeweegen, CEO of Somatics.
We are both committed to assisting in the resolution of dependability and energy efficiency problems.
Ultimately, creating a system that integrates both datasets will give industrial operators a more thorough understanding of the health of their assets, enabling them to make wiser maintenance, dependability and downtime decisions.
SAM4 has been proven to be a reliable and scalable system by Samotics.
It has a rapidly expanding base with thousands of assets being monitored and is already being used throughout the wastewater and water, steel and chemical sectors.
Before the end of 2022, ABB intends to introduce Samotics’ technology to its clientele as a part of its expanding service offering for rotating machinery.
