
ABB completes acquisition of Siemens low voltage NEMA motor business
The Siemens low voltage NEMA motor business has been acquired by ABB. The transaction was initially announced on August 11, 2022, with no financial specifics released.
In 2021, the company employed roughly 600 individuals and generated approximately $63 million in revenue.The acquisition of this company is part of Motion’s lucrative expansion strategy.
It fortifies ABB’s position as a leading industrial NEMA motor producer, as well as providing an even stronger foundation from which ABB can better service its global clients.

The ABB brand of horizontal and vertical induction severe duty and general purpose motors will be reintroduced to the market in the second quarter of 2023.
The global NEMA motor industry, worth around $2.7 billion, consists mostly of industrial electric motors used in North America.
NEMA motors are critical components used to power equipment in industries such as food and beverage, oil and gas, mining and aggregate, and water and wastewater, as well as applications such as those that move air, liquids, and units.
