
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia wins the hosting of the eleventh session of the World Water Forum 2027
The Kingdom won the hosting of the 11th session of the World 2027 Water Forum in Riyadh, in an event that affirms its interest for the sustainability of water resources and the improvement of quality of life, its leadership role in supporting water issues regionally and internationally, as well as its pursuit of sustainable development goals.
This came during today’s meeting of the World Water Council in Turkey; To vote and select the winning State to host the Forum, the Kingdom secured the votes of a majority of the members of the Council, overtaking the State of Italy, which strongly competed to host the Forum.
His Excellency the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Eng. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadli, explained that: the Kingdom’s victory in hosting the Forum is the culmination of achieving development, economic and societal goals despite being one of the world’s most scarce countries in water resources, but possesses modern and sophisticated infrastructure, along with regulations and legislation regulating the sector.
His Excellency added that the National Water Strategy is the road map for the future and help overcome its challenges by developing comprehensive institutional and structural frameworks and enabling mechanisms and to develop effective operational plans, along with a water system aimed at conserving water sources and its development, protection, sustainability, management, organization, rights and uses, Ensuring safe, clean, reliable, high-quality and competitive water supply achieves equity among consumers.
In addition, he worked to present the Kingdom’s nomination file to host the Forum, a competent group chaired by His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Eng. Mansour bin Hilal al-Musayti, and a number of leaders of the water system successfully highlighted the Kingdom’s efforts in the field of water and its support for water issues around the world.
It is the World Water Forum, organized by the World Water Council; The largest event in water management; Governments, organizations, officials, and specialists in all relevant areas meet to share experiences and open cooperation in order to develop the sector and ensure its sustainability.
The Forum provides a platform for brainstorming, knowledge, and collaboration among stakeholders around the world, opportunities for international best practices, and ways of collaborating that will ensure the sustainable management of the world’s water resources.
The new water system promotes the participation of the private sector in activities and contributes to the achievement of the goal of everyone’s access to clean, safe, and conforming water and natural needs, in accordance with the approved standards, plans, and programs, as well as ensuring the provision of water supply to all development sectors, including the agricultural sector, in order to ensure the sustainability of this vital sector, in accordance with the objectives of Vision 2030
