The United Nations celebrates World Environment Day each year to improve environmental protection.

Since its inception in 1973, World Environment Day has grown into an international platform for improving environmental awareness and taking urgent worldwide action.

Over the past 50 years, millions of people have participated in World Environment Days under the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), inspiring national and worldwide environmental policies.

Every World Environment Day has a different subject, including wildlife crime, global warming, sustainable consumption and marine pollution.
