Industrial processes worldwide utilize over 1 billion cubic meters of water annually, prompting companies to seek methods to enhance water efficiency and expedite ecological transformation. Hubgrade Water Footprint delivers comprehensive insights into water operations, including actual water costs, usage ratios, and water balance, by integrating real-time, on-site data, artificial intelligence, and top-tier domain expertise into a singular resource.
“Conventional water audits provide only a snapshot of water usage at an industrial site,” stated Bernie Anger, Chief Digital Officer at Veolia Water Technologies & Solutions. “Hubgrade Water Footprint transcends this static view of total water costs and captures real-time occurrences of water wastage at a granular level to systematically pinpoint and eradicate water inefficiencies in ways a traditional audit cannot.”
By leveraging AI, the platform generates actionable insights that can, for instance, identify water wastage incidents in real-time, facilitating effective water risk management and offering recommendations to optimize the energy consumption impact associated with water circuits, thus lowering the facility’s overall carbon emissions.
Veolia tested Hubgrade Water Footprint at one of its facilities, achieving early successes such as reducing emissions by over 20,000 kilograms through piped natural gas (PNG) usage. Hubgrade Water Footprint represents the latest phase of ecological transformation at this site, which also included savings of 72,000 kilowatt-hours via solar power and more than 3,000 cubic meters of collected rainwater.
In 2024, Hubgrade Water Footprint is projected to expand to over 15 Veolia sites globally to promote new sustainability initiatives, alongside collaborating with clients to assist them in reaching their specific water neutrality objectives. Veolia provided the expertise and tailored recommendations necessary to expedite the client’s sustainability journey.
Veolia’s innovative reporting tools also enable companies to establish and monitor sustainability targets across teams, enhancing transparency with regulators and stakeholders in compliance with local governance. Companies can further optimize operations and planning, backed by Veolia’s water expertise and customer success teams.
