Sandow Lakes Energy constructing 1.2GW gas power plant in Texas

Sandow Lakes Energy Company has unveiled plans to build a 1.2GW natural gas power plant in Lee County, Texas. A subsidiary of Sandow Lakes Energy will develop and own the facility.

Construction begins in 2025, generating power for 800,000 homes in the ERCOT network. Sandow Lakes Energy has partnered with Siemens Energy for advanced gas turbines.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott said, “Enhancing the capacity and dependability of our power grid is crucial as Texas grows. The Sandow Lakes facility will offer 1,200MW of controllable power, meeting the electricity needs of numerous households.”

“As governor, I enacted bipartisan legislation to revamp ERCOT and bolster the reliability, durability, and capacity of our state’s grid. By collaborating with entities such as Sandow Lakes and Siemens, our state is committed to maintaining a consistent power supply for all Texas residents.”
