Iberdrola sheds 80-MW wind farm in Romania market exit

Spanish energy company Iberdrola SA ( BME:IBE ) has reached an agreement to offload 80 MW of wind power capacity in Romania, signaling its departure from the market.

In a statement released on Monday, Iberdrola announced the sale of its wind power subsidiary Dobrogea One to a division of Romanian renewable energy and gas provider Premier Energy Group for EUR 88 million (USD 94.2m).

The completion of the transaction is subject to standard regulatory approvals.

This move aligns with Iberdrola’s strategy to divest from non-core assets.

Following the sale of Dobrogea One and its associated capacity, Iberdrola will no longer maintain any assets or business operations in Romania, the company stated.

The 80 MW of capacity corresponds to a single wind farm that has been operational since 2012.
