DuPont has announced that its DuPont™ FilmTec™ Fortilife™ XC220 element has been recognized as the Sustainability Product of the Year by the Business Intelligence Group. This award highlights its role in promoting industrial water reuse, resource recovery, and enhancing sustainable practices in Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) and Minimal Liquid Discharge (MLD) operations.
The FilmTec™ Fortilife™ XC220 element is engineered as a high-pressure reverse osmosis solution aimed at helping industrial operators optimize water recovery and achieve brine concentrations of up to 220 g/L NaCl. This capability extends membrane-based treatment into areas that have typically depended on energy-heavy thermal processes.

As industries encounter mounting challenges from water scarcity, stricter discharge regulations, and increasing management costs, the FilmTec™ Fortilife™ XC220 element promotes a more effective strategy for industrial water management. By achieving brine concentrations of up to 220 g/L NaCl, this technology allows operators to maximize water recovery, create new opportunities for selective salt recovery, and decrease liquid waste volumes for downstream treatment. The element is designed to extend membrane-based treatment into concentration levels that have historically necessitated energy-intensive thermal methods, thereby reducing overall treatment costs and energy consumption in specific MLD and ZLD applications.
Introduced in April 2026 as part of DuPont’s expanded FilmTec™ Fortilife™ brand lineup, this element was designed to assist industrial users in enhancing water circularity while improving operational efficiency across various sectors, including mining, petrochemicals, automotive, textiles, power generation, lithium extraction, and advanced manufacturing.
