Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited, has entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Tata Power Mumbai Distribution for an 80 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project.
This project will integrate advanced solar, wind, and battery storage technologies to ensure reliable energy dispatch during peak hours, thereby enhancing grid stability. Once operational, the clean energy produced will be fed into Tata Power’s Mumbai distribution network, providing low-emission electricity to approximately 8 lakh residential, commercial, and industrial customers. The project is expected to be completed within 24 months and will generate around 315 million units of electricity annually, leading to a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by over 0.25 million tons per year. A notable feature of the project is its four-hour peak power supply capability, ensuring at least 90% availability during peak demand hours, which supports Tata Power Mumbai Distribution’s increasing energy needs.
This initiative will also assist Tata Power Mumbai Distribution in fulfilling its Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) as mandated by state regulations, further solidifying TPREL’s status as a leader in India’s renewable energy sector and its dedication to a sustainable, resilient energy future.
