LONGi Hi-MO X10 Powers Adailou’s First Off-Grid Solar Project in Djibouti

LONGi, the world’s leading solar technology company, in collaboration with its authorized partner Proxy Group, is excited to announce its involvement in the solar power station in Adailou village, located in Djibouti’s Tadjourah region. This project represents the first off-grid installation in Djibouti featuring LONGi’s cutting-edge Hi-MO X10 modules, which utilize advanced back-contact (BC) technology to provide exceptional reliability and efficiency for off-grid applications.

Adailou, a remote rural community that has long faced challenges related to darkness and energy poverty, now has access to a new 165 kW solar power plant, complete with 500 kWh of energy storage. At the core of this facility are LONGi’s Hi-MO X10 modules, the ideal choice for distributed and off-grid applications, ensuring assurance through advanced technology, added value, reliability, aesthetics, and safety.

Engineered with LONGi’s latest HPBC 2.0 cell, the Hi-MO X10 is designed for high performance and reliability throughout its entire life cycle—essential factors for off-grid regions where maintenance access is limited and uptime is crucial.

For rural microgrids like Adailou, the Hi-MO X10 is particularly well-suited to the environment. Its high power density (up to 670W per standard size), low degradation profile, superior temperature coefficient (-0.26%/°C), and enhanced anti-shading feature (over 70% reduction in power loss) ensure maximum energy yield, minimal maintenance, and extended uptime fulfilling the specific needs of remote microgrid operators.

With a first-year degradation of only 1%, followed by a linear degradation of 0.35% annually, the Hi-MO X10 maintains high output over decades making it an ideal solution for off-grid reliability and long-term sustainability.

These benefits result in:

– Reliable electricity for homes, schools, health centers, and local businesses.
– Reduced maintenance requirements in remote areas with limited technical resources.
– Long-term sustainability to enhance community livelihoods and development.

Additionally, as part of the overall system, Huawei’s BESS, implemented by Proxy Group, was integrated to support energy storage and distribution. This showcases how LONGi Hi-MO X10 modules, when paired with complementary system technologies, provide the most reliable and high-performance solution for off-grid electrification in challenging environments.

During the inauguration ceremony, Djibouti’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Yonis Ali Guedi, along with Naguib Abdallah Mohamed Kamil, the Secretary-General at the Prime Minister’s office of Djibouti, praised the project as a significant milestone in promoting equitable rural electrification. Residents celebrated the reliable power supply just in time for Independence Day festivities bringing light to homes, supporting livelihoods, and improving quality of life.

This initiative also reflects LONGi’s broader mission across the continent. Through its “Light Up Africa” program, LONGi is dedicated to expanding access to clean, reliable solar energy empowering communities, uplifting lives, and driving sustainable development throughout Africa. With Adailou serving as a flagship success, LONGi once again illustrates how innovation in solar technology can create tangible impacts illuminating communities, powering progress, and fostering a brighter future for all.
