
Energy Recovery has announced the appointment of a new Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Wastewater. Ram Ramanan will step into the CTO role on March 3, succeeding Farshad Ghasripoor, who is retiring after 12 years with the company.
Additionally, Energy Recovery has elevated David Kim-Hak to Vice President of Wastewater, a newly created position aimed at leveraging growth opportunities in both municipal and industrial wastewater treatment sectors.

Dr. Ramanan brings over 30 years of varied leadership experience, having developed disruptive products and nurtured innovative environments in startups, IPO-stage companies, and established industry leaders. During his nearly 20 years at Rondo Energy and Bloom Energy, he successfully launched advanced products, expanded global teams, and managed financial resources through design innovation, process optimization, and strategic collaborations.

Dr. Ramanan earned his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from The Ohio State University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University. He holds over 50 patents. Dr. Ghasripoor will continue as an executive advisor until October 2025.
Mr. Kim-Hak has advanced through various roles over six years at Energy Recovery, most recently serving as Senior Director of Product Management and Technical Support for Water. He has shown exceptional foresight in understanding client product requirements and was key in Energy Recovery receiving the Most Innovative Company in Desalination Technology award at the 2024 International Desalination and Reuse Association World Congress.
Before joining Energy Recovery, Mr. Kim-Hak successfully led projects and exceeded revenue goals in positions at Picarro and LG Water Solutions, among others. He holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemical engineering from the University of Southern California.
