Veolia Adds a Major Strategic Ally: CriteriaCaixa to Acquire a 5% Stake in the Company.

Veolia has partnered with CriteriaCaixa, the investment division of la Caixa Foundation, which will acquire a 5% ownership stake in the company. This investment includes representation for CriteriaCaixa on Veolia’s Board of Directors, established through a stable shareholding and governance agreement.

The investment signifies CriteriaCaixa’s trust in Veolia’s vision and strategic initiatives, especially its GreenUp plan, which aims to provide shareholders with sustainable value. This collaboration aligns with Veolia’s fundamental principles, its global operational approach, and its dedication to stakeholders, including employees and partners, particularly in Spain, where the company is actively involved.

During the forthcoming General Shareholders Meeting, Veolia plans to nominate a CriteriaCaixa representative for its Board of Directors. As a strategic investor, CriteriaCaixa will actively support Veolia’s governance, independence, and long-term strategy, contributing at both the Board level and during the General Shareholders Meeting.

This acquisition of a 5% stake will enhance CriteriaCaixa’s investment portfolio and represents a significant milestone in its 2025-2030 Strategic Plan. This plan aims to stabilize economic sectors and strengthen commitments in industries like banking, energy, telecommunications, and utilities, while also promoting future industrial growth through investments in emerging sectors and new ventures.

According to the agreement, CriteriaCaixa’s stake in Veolia will be limited to 5.5%, with a commitment to retain its shares for a minimum of two years.

Isidro Fainé, Chairman of CriteriaCaixa, remarked: “We are very pleased to collaborate with Veolia and contribute to its future growth. Our commitment to this company’s success will enhance the asset structure of ‘la Caixa’ Foundation, aiming to generate the necessary financial resources for advancing our social and philanthropic initiatives.”

Antoine Frérot, Chairman of Veolia Environnement, expressed: “We are excited to welcome CriteriaCaixa as a new shareholder, a company we are familiar with, to our Board of Directors. Veolia believes that this investment and the supportive commitment from this major partner will create shared opportunities and positively impact the Group’s development.”

This strategic partnership bolsters Veolia’s growth trajectory while solidifying CriteriaCaixa’s position as a key player in sustainable and strategic investments.
