United Utilities Announces New Partners for Reservoir Works

United Utilities has revealed that eight firms have been selected to assist with work on its reservoirs over the next decade.

In an effort to secure water supplies for seven million residents in the North West, the company has chosen partners to conduct investigations, maintenance, repairs, and asset replacements across its reservoir network.

The two frameworks are estimated to be valued at £205 million, and the selected partners include Askam Civil Engineering, AE Yates, Bethell Construction, Bachy Soletanche, Cleantech Civils, JVT Construction, Kier Integrated Services, and Stonbury.

With 184 reservoirs, United Utilities operates more than any other water company in England, supplying approximately 1.85 billion liters of drinking water to its customers each day.

Jane Simpson, the Commercial Engineering and Capital Delivery Director at United Utilities, stated, “Our reservoirs are essential for ensuring that customers have a steady supply of water throughout the North West, and they are also iconic locations that many people enjoy visiting.

“The eight partners we have selected will contribute significant expertise to help us maintain these reservoirs and deliver the high-quality drinking water our customers expect.”

This announcement coincides with United Utilities launching its largest investment in water and wastewater infrastructure in a century. The company plans to invest over £13 billion in the next five years to protect and enhance more than 500 kilometers of rivers, lakes, and bathing waters while ensuring the safety of drinking water supplies for millions of customers in the North West.
