TotalEnergies has announced the acquisition of a pipeline consisting of eight solar projects with a total capacity of 350 MW and two battery storage projects with an 85 MW capacity from Low Carbon, a prominent renewable energy firm.
These solar projects are at an advanced development stage, aiming to become operational by 2028. They are expected to generate over 350 GWh of renewable electricity annually, enough to power approximately 100,000 households in the UK.
Olivier Jouny, SVP of renewables at TotalEnergies, expressed satisfaction with the acquisition, stating that these solar and battery projects in southern England will enhance their integrated electricity portfolio in the UK, which includes 1.1 GW of offshore wind, 1.3 GW of combined cycle gas turbine, and over 600 MW of solar projects currently in development.
Roy Bedlow, Chief Executive and Founder of Low Carbon, remarked on the successful agreement with TotalEnergies, highlighting their significant commitment to renewable infrastructure. He noted that Low Carbon is delivering one of the largest portfolios of ready-to-build solar and battery projects in the UK. Once completed, these projects will play a crucial role in achieving the Government’s Clean Power 2030 goals and will strengthen Low Carbon’s reputation for developing high-quality renewable assets while supporting the expansion of their renewable pipeline as an independent power producer.
