Uisce Éireann: Nenagh Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade

Uisce Éireann has stated that this once-in-a-lifetime investment will create the capacity necessary to accommodate the town’s future development, protect the local ecosystem, and preserve the Nenagh River for many years ahead.

With planning permission now obtained, Uisce Éireann will proceed with finalizing the design and preparing for the construction phase of the initiative.

Esther White, the Portfolio Manager at Uisce Éireann, remarked:

“We’re thrilled to advance this essential project for the Nenagh community. This significant investment will increase the capacity of the wastewater treatment facility from 12,000 to 19,800 population equivalent (pe), ensuring that the town and surrounding areas have the crucial wastewater infrastructure needed for growth and prosperity.

“It will facilitate the town’s expansion, which is vital for the development of new homes and businesses, while also safeguarding the local environment and improving the area for everyone.”

EPS will execute this project on behalf of Uisce Éireann.

The Nenagh initiative is part of Uisce Éireann’s ongoing multimillion-euro effort to upgrade wastewater infrastructure throughout County Tipperary, which includes recently completed projects in Newport, Ballina, and Cahir; ongoing upgrades in Fethard; site assessments in Thurles; and planning currently under review for Grangemockler and Kilsheelan.
