Toray establishes water treatment technology center in Saudi Arabia

MEWTEC serves the growing demand for water in the bordering regions, Africa, and the Middle East.

Toray Membrane Middle East (TMME) started operations at Toray Industries’ Middle East Water Treatment Technical Center (MEWTEC) in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, in April, the company stated. From membranes to complete treatment procedures, the new facility offers integrated technology offerings.

MEWTEC serves the growing demand for water in the bordering regions, Africa, and the Middle East. It also tackles the growing demand for sophisticated saltwater desalination and wastewater reuse technologies in urban and industrial infrastructure.

Access to clean water is essential to Toray Group’s Sustainability Vision, which serves as a blueprint for the company’s 2050 world vision and embodies Toray Vision 2030, which aims to achieve sound, sustainable growth. Toray will strengthen its technical services in regions with increasing water needs and keep offering cutting-edge reverse osmosis and other membrane technologies. It will assist in addressing water scarcity globally, notably in the Middle East and Africa, which are becoming more populated and industrialized.

The center uses the newest equipment for evaluating reverse osmosis membranes and water quality studies. In order to quickly identify the root causes of problems and suggest fixes, it disassembles and examines returned membrane modules and carefully examines the quality of the operating water.

In order to promote technological cooperation, the center provides a venue for cooperative experiments, research, and development with academic institutions, research facilities, and clients. It aims to support the Middle East’s medium- and long-term advancements in water treatment technology.
