Three companies bid for Rayis- Rabigh IWTP, first Saudi water pipeline PPP
The Rayis-Rabigh Independent Water Transmission Pipeline (IWTP) project has received three bids, according to the Saudi Water Partnership Corporation (SWPC).
The first independent water transmission pipeline (IWTP) project in Saudi Arabia is the Rayis-Rabigh IWTP. It will be 150 kilometers long with a 500,000 m3/day transmission capacity (km).
The three bidders are:
- Nesma Company / Abdul Aziz Al Ajlan Sons / Ajlan & Bros / Mutlaq Al-Ghowairi Contracting Company / Buhur for Investment Company (local)
- Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios (Spain) / Alkhorayef Water and Power Technologies (local) / Orascom Construction (Egypt)
- Vision International (local) / Taqa (UAE) / Gulf Investment Corporation ( (GIC) Kuwait)
It’s anticipated that the pipeline would be finished in the fourth quarter of 2025.
SWM announced in August of last year that SWPC had released the request for proposals (RFP) for the pipeline and that 14 businesses had already been prequalified by April of 2022.
The project’s initial specifications called for a transmission capacity of 900,000 m3/day and a length of 100 km.
Under a construct, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) basis, the Rayis-Rabigh Independent Water Transmission Pipeline (IWTP) Project will be carried out.
A 35-year water transmission contract will require the selected bidder to give the Saudi utility firm all of the available transmission capacity.
