Sulzer has announced the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire Dansk Overpumpning A/S, a Danish company that specializes in engineered wastewater pump rental solutions. This acquisition represents a significant advancement in Sulzer’s strategy to foster growth in the Nordic region, enhancing its rental platform and reinforcing its position in the water and wastewater sector.
Founded by Kurt Bjørn Nielsen and Lis Viborg in response to the severe flooding in Copenhagen in 2011, Dansk Overpumpning was established with the aim of providing swift and dependable pump solutions to assist communities during water emergencies. This vision is now evolving as the company joins Sulzer’s European rental platform.
Under the guidance of Sarah Viborg, Dansk Overpumpning has become a reliable partner for both municipalities and industrial clients. Sarah will take on the role of Head of Rental Solutions Denmark at Sulzer, continuing her family’s tradition of making a positive impact through innovation.
Mathias Pruessing, President of Sulzer’s Flow Division, remarked:
“This acquisition transcends strategic interests; it embodies a narrative of purpose and growth. The foundational commitment of Dansk Overpumpning to community resilience and its robust operational capabilities align perfectly with Sulzer’s rental ambitions in the Nordic market.”
This acquisition bolsters Sulzer’s Rental Solutions, which offer engineered temporary solutions for essential pumping, aeration, and water treatment needs across municipal and industrial sectors. By integrating Sulzer’s top-tier equipment with local service expertise, the offerings include Bypass Pumping, Mobile Treatment, and Air for Rent (containerized HST turbo-compressors). With strategically positioned hubs throughout Europe, Sulzer provides rapid, reliable, and sustainable rental solutions that ensure operational continuity during maintenance, upgrades, or emergencies, helping clients minimize downtime, capital expenditures, and environmental impact.
