Scottish Water has enlisted BPD Zenith, a renowned global provider of Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) solutions, to spearhead its asset management overhaul within a six-year, £5.8 billion strategic maintenance and enhancement initiative.
Aligned with governmental and regulatory expectations, Scottish Water initiated a six-year investment scheme in 2021 to enhance Scotland’s water and wastewater infrastructure.
With more than 2,500 ongoing projects aimed at enhancing drinking water quality, safeguarding the environment, and fostering economic growth, the program seeks to bolster the achievement of the water supplier’s three strategic goals: delivering exceptional service, surpassing net zero emissions targets, and contributing to increased value and financial sustainability.
As a publicly owned water provider, Scottish Water serves 2.62 million households and 159,000 business clients throughout Scotland.
The company delivers 1.51 billion liters of potable water daily and treats 1.07 billion liters of wastewater from customer premises, ensuring its safe return to the environment.
Under the extended agreement, leveraging their 30 years of EAM expertise, BPD will collaborate with Scottish Water to streamline operations, optimize asset performance and efficiency, and guarantee the continuous provision of top-notch water and wastewater services to all customers across Scotland.
BPD Zenith will introduce its customized, fully hosted asset management solution, MaxiCloud.
Powered by IBM’s Maximo Application Suite and selected by Scottish Water to drive asset management transformation, this solution will offer both immediate and long-term technical advancements and enhancements, such as enhanced resource allocation, reduced downtime, and increased cost savings.
The contract also encompasses the deployment of Copperleaf’s H2O Solution to facilitate Asset Investment Planning in support of Scottish Waters’ SR21 investment phase and long-term transformation program.
“It’s exciting to be collaborating with BPD Zenith on the implementation of IBM Maximo through BPD’s MaxiCloud enterprise asset management solution.” said John Wigham, Senior Responsible Officer – ORBIT Transformation, Scottish Water. He added: “The system will play a key part in enabling Scottish Water’s ambitious Asset Management aspirations and our strategic objectives to meet the needs of our customers and communities every day.”
Richard Donaldson, Managing Director for EMEA at BPD Zenith, conveyed his excitement about partnering with Scottish Water on their new transformation project.
He highlighted the value of effective Asset Management and their commitment to delivering top-tier services to the people of Scotland.
