Plug Power and Allied Green Expand Strategic Collaboration with New 2 GW Electrolyzer Deal in Uzbekistan

Plug Power has announced a partnership with Allied Green Ammonia (AGA) to develop a new 2GW electrolyser for AGA’s sustainable fuel project in Uzbekistan.

This agreement will be officially signed at the Tashkent International Investment Forum 2025, scheduled to take place from June 10 to June 12 at the Central Asian Exhibition Centre (CAEx Centre) in Tashkent.

Plug’s electrolyser technology will serve as the foundation for a $5.5 billion green chemical production facility in Uzbekistan, which will produce sustainable aviation fuel, green urea, and green diesel.

Backed by the Uzbek government, this initiative reinforces Plug’s status as a leading provider for large-scale decarbonization efforts worldwide.

Plug Power CEO Andy Marsh remarked, “This new collaboration with Allied Green showcases Plug’s leadership in the global hydrogen transition through our proven electrolyser technology and industrial-scale execution.

“With a 5GW partnership now extending across two continents, this exemplifies our capability to meet customer needs while shaping the future of energy.”

This project builds on Allied Green’s prior commitment to a 3GW electrolyser for a green ammonia facility in Australia, which is set to reach a final investment decision by the end of 2025.

Alfred Benedict of Allied Green Ammonia expressed, “This agreement highlights our strong confidence in Plug’s expertise, technology, and ability to execute ambitious, world-class projects.

“Together, we are generating significant momentum for global decarbonization—first in Australia, now in Uzbekistan, and in other regions to follow.”

Plug’s technology is either operational or in development across five continents, supporting the industrial, transportation, energy, and chemicals sectors.

Plug Power president Sanjay Shrestha noted, “This ongoing collaboration with Allied Green reflects Plug’s capacity to assist in achieving ambitious decarbonization objectives with scalable electrolyser technology.

“As we aim to deepen our partnership, we recognize a strong alignment in our shared vision to accelerate the global transition to low-carbon hydrogen across various industries and regions.”

In January 2025, Plug Power’s subsidiary, Plug Power Energy Loan Borrower, secured a $1.66 billion loan guarantee from the US Department of Energy to build up to six clean hydrogen facilities.
