LONGi supplies 162 MW of Hi-MO 7 modules for Cotoperí Solar, the largest photovoltaic complex in Central America and the Caribbean

LONGi, a global leader in solar technology, served as the module supplier for Cotoperí Solar, the largest photovoltaic complex in Central America and the Caribbean, recently inaugurated in Guaymate (La Romana). Developed by ACCIONA Energía as the majority partner, alongside Cotosolar Holding, which includes the JMMB Sustainable Energy Fund (FES), managed by JMMB Funds, Grupo País, and other minority investors, the project boasts an installed capacity of 162.6 MWp and is fully equipped with LONGi’s high-performance Hi-MO 7 modules. Cotoperí Solar, comprising three solar plants, will generate approximately 286 GWh of clean energy annually, significantly strengthening the Dominican Republic’s energy matrix and preventing the emission of over 210,000 tons of CO₂, equivalent to planting more than 5.5 million trees. LONGi’s Hi-MO 7 technology ensures superior performance in tropical climates, delivering higher efficiency, lower degradation, and optimal energy yield throughout the system’s lifespan.

LONGi’s involvement in this project reinforces its leadership in the Dominican Republic, promoting the adoption of its cutting-edge Hi-MO 7 and Hi-MO 9 technologies for utility-scale projects.

“For LONGi, it is an honor to contribute to the Dominican Republic’s energy development through landmark projects such as Cotoperí Solar, which represent the path toward a more sustainable and resilient future,” said Bruce Zhu, President of LONGi LATAM.

Beyond its environmental impact, the construction of Cotoperí Solar created over 600 direct and indirect jobs, boosting the local economy and fostering skills development in surrounding communities. The project also includes social initiatives focused on technical training, support for local entrepreneurship, road safety, and programs to improve access to water and sanitation, benefiting more than 4,500 people.
