LONGi Powers UK’s First Back Contact Solar Project in Landmark Cero Generation Partnership

LONGi, a global leader in solar technology, has announced its significant involvement in the United Kingdom’s inaugural deployment of back contact (BC) photovoltaic technology through a groundbreaking partnership with Cero Generation. As the exclusive module supplier for the 59MW solar component of Cero’s flagship Bramley Project—a 115MW co-located solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) this collaboration marks LONGi’s entry into the UK’s BC market and its first partnership with the pan-European renewable energy developer.

Mr. Leon Zhang, President of LONGi Europe, stated, “The Bramley Project goes beyond traditional solar deployments it signifies that BC technology is poised to shape Britain’s energy future. By choosing Hi-MO 9 for this pioneering initiative, Cero Generation illustrates how forward-thinking partners can expedite grid decarbonization through technological innovation.”

Marta Martinez Queimadelos, CEO of Cero Generation, emphasized, “LONGi’s advanced BC modules perfectly align with our commitment to EU Taxonomy-compliant infrastructure. This partnership ensures that Bramley achieves maximum environmental impact while leading the charge for next-generation solar technology in the UK market.”

Additionally, the Bramley Project, supported by a £200 million green financing package secured by Cero Generation, marks a significant milestone in the UK’s clean energy journey. Construction is expected to commence in autumn 2025, with LONGi’s high-efficiency Hi-MO 9 modules being integrated alongside Sungrow’s battery storage systems, under the engineering leadership of Metlen.

As the UK’s first solar installation to utilize back contact technology recognized as the peak of photovoltaic performance the Bramley Project sets a new benchmark for efficiency, innovation, and sustainability in the nation’s energy transition.
