Iberdrola España and Grupo Disfrimur advance their decarbonisation strategy through Energy Saving Certificates (CAE)

Iberdrola España and Grupo Disfrimur remain steadfast in their decarbonization and electrification strategy, operating within the framework of their agreement to market Energy Saving Certificates (ESC). Grupo Disfrimur has implemented a range of energy efficiency measures, which Iberdrola España converts into monetary savings through the ESC system.

One of the most significant initiatives by Grupo Disfrimur has been its transition in mobility, incorporating over 40 electric vehicles into its fleet during 2023, 2024, and 2025. Iberdrola España has played a crucial role in monetizing the first 2.2 GWh of energy savings, further advancing Disfrimur’s efficiency and sustainability goals.

The Murcia-based logistics company has also introduced other energy-saving measures, including tire upgrades, the installation of telemetry and geopositioning systems in its fleet, and improvements to its trailers, among other actions.

Iberdrola España supports Grupo Disfrimur throughout this process, from identifying savings opportunities to certifying and monetizing them via the ESC system. The ESC is a mechanism regulated primarily by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO) as the national coordinator.

‘Energy saving is not only a commitment to sustainability, it’s also an opportunity to add value. Grupo Disfrimur and Iberdrola España are celebrating the success of their partnership with the ESC, thanks to the reduction in energy consumption, the optimization of routes, and other decarbonization initiatives, allowing us to monetize the savings obtained and pushing forward our decarbonization strategy,’ says Juan Jesús Sánchez, managing director of Grupo Disfrimur.

‘At Iberdrola España, we believe it’s essential to support the energy transition in all its aspects. With Grupo Disfrimur, we are once again supporting the business sector in implementing its electrification and decarbonization strategies, improving its efficiency and the country’s productive fabric,’ adds Joaquín Longares, commercial representative for Iberdrola España in the Valencian Community and Murcia.
