Iberdrola energizes Alto Paranaíba, the company’s largest transmission line in Brazil

Neoenergia, Iberdrola’s subsidiary in Brazil, has successfully completed the energization of the final section of the Alto Paranaíba Project, which is one of the largest electricity transmission initiatives in Brazil. This project significantly enhances power transmission capacity between the northern region of Minas Gerais and São Paulo, featuring 1,600 kilometers of transmission lines, 3,250 towers, and six substations. It solidifies Neoenergia’s position as the developer of the largest transmission project in the country.

The Alto Paranaíba lot was awarded to Neoenergia during the transmission auction 001/2022, organized by the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL). The project involved extensive infrastructure development and was completed more than 15 months ahead of the deadline set by ANEEL, with an investment of approximately 4.2 billion reais (around 669 million euros).

According to the company, “the final phase of the project was delivered with a high level of satisfaction,” thanks to highly qualified teams dedicated to excellence at every stage. This achievement highlights Neoenergia’s commitment to the development and strengthening of Brazil’s electricity sector.
