Part of a Successful Case Study Series: Filtralite® Delivers Proven Operational Efficiency in Jeddah WWTP
As part of a series of successful case studies, a field study under the Long Term Operation and Maintenance Agreement – Package 01, Jeddah evaluated Filtralite® against conventional anthracite media at a wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 220,000 m³/day.
The results demonstrated consistently improved performance with Filtralite®, achieving lower turbidity levels of 0.42 NTU compared to 0.75 NTU for anthracite, along with stable effluent quality under varying operating conditions.
Operationally, Filtralite® significantly reduced backwashing requirements. Daily backwash time decreased from 81 to 54 minutes, and under higher loading conditions from 144 to 72 minutes per day.
It also required fewer backwash cycles—3 cycles per day vs 6 cycles—representing a reduction of up to 50%.
Overall, this study—alongside other successful case studies—reinforces Filtralite® as a high-performance filtration media that enhances water quality while reducing water, energy consumption, and operational costs, supporting more efficient and sustainable plant operation.
