Energy Recovery Announces Expanded 30-Year Pressure Exchanger Design Life.

Energy Recovery, Inc. (Nasdaq: ERII) has announced the findings of recent tests, revealing that the PX® Pressure® Exchanger® (PX) energy recovery device now boasts a 30-year design life, an enhancement from the previously stated 25-year lifespan. A newly released whitepaper details the thorough testing that substantiates this conclusion.

Since 1992, the company has been a frontrunner in energy efficiency technology, conducting an in-depth internal evaluation of the PX device’s longevity, which revealed no evidence of material fatigue or deterioration. This assessment included an analysis of field performance, customer satisfaction, design criteria, construction quality, and testing of PX devices used in seawater reverse osmosis applications.

“Our products are operating effectively under some of the most challenging conditions in seawater desalination and industrial wastewater management, where our clients require durability, reliability, and consistent availability,” stated Rodney Clemente, Senior Vice President of Water at Energy Recovery. “The most costly water is the one that cannot be produced due to equipment downtime. Each year that our PX devices surpass expectations, we enhance our esteemed reputation in these sectors.”

With careful choice of materials, robust designs developed using advanced computational and analytical tools, precision manufacturing, and rigorous inspection and validation testing, PX devices in SWRO applications are built for several decades of operating life, according to the whitepaper.

This extended lifespan builds on the established durability and ongoing performance of over 35,000 PX devices deployed in some of the most demanding environments within seawater desalination and industrial wastewater, solidifying the company’s reputation for dependable products that consistently meet industry expectations.
