Egypt’s Vision for Water & Sanitation: Reducing Energy Consumption & Optimizing Stations Area

Dr. Sayed Ismail, Deputy Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, outlined the government’s strategy for executing water and sanitation projects.

The Government’s Strategy for Water & Sanitation Projects:

A key focus of the plan is minimizing energy consumption, reducing waste, and optimizing station areas while maintaining their operational capacity. This was highlighted during a meeting between Dr. Sayed Ismail and a specialized sewage treatment company officials.

He elaborated on the plan’s emphasis on advanced technologies in sewage treatment plants, along with research-driven development to decrease station size without affecting capacity. The approach also incorporates technical innovations to streamline operation and maintenance processes.

 

Encouraging Local Industries:

The Deputy Minister underscored the importance of supporting local products and fostering domestic industries for sewage treatment components. He emphasized continuous research, development, and staying updated with modern technologies to create smart solutions, whether in new projects or in upgrading and enhancing existing stations.

Discussions also covered strategies to curb energy consumption, minimize waste, and ensure wastewater treatment adheres to standardized criteria. Company representatives detailed the local manufacturing processes of key wastewater treatment system components.

 

Reducing Energy Consumption:

Company officials showcased cutting-edge wastewater treatment techniques designed to maximize output while using minimal energy. They also presented previous projects, highlighting technologies implemented in the presidential “Decent Life” initiative to improve rural sanitation.

 

Dr. Sayed Ismail concluded the meeting by reaffirming the Ministry of Housing’s commitment to supporting the private sector, eliminating obstacles, and promoting local production and industrial localization for electromechanical wastewater treatment components.
