DuPont Water Solutions Launches WAVE PRO for Ultrafiltration Modeling

DuPont Water Solutions has introduced WAVE PRO, an advanced online modeling tool designed for various ultrafiltration (UF) water treatment applications, including drinking water, industrial utility water, wastewater, and seawater desalination. This latest iteration of the Water Application Value Engine (WAVE), known as WAVE PRO for UF, assists water professionals in navigating the design process for ultrafiltration systems. With its powerful calculation engine, the tool enables users to execute intricate designs with high precision, aiding water treatment planners in creating systems that enhance productivity and improve operational efficiency.

Users can manipulate model parameters via a digital interface to replicate specific conditions related to their water sources and processes. WAVE PRO allows for the assessment of different scenarios to identify the most effective configuration, factoring in project-specific economics to optimize operational expenses and water balance calculations.

“We are thrilled to provide our municipal and industrial clients with WAVE PRO, the newest evolution of water-treatment design tools for ultrafiltration,” remarked Gary Gu, Global Technology Leader at DuPont Water Solutions. “Our team at DuPont Water Solutions is consistently enhancing the performance of our membranes, resins, systems, and complementary digital design and optimization tools to assist our customers in achieving their operational and financial objectives.”

Existing users of the WAVE tool will find it easy to transition to WAVE PRO, which maintains backward compatibility. Additionally, it offers secure access from any computer or tablet with a single sign-on, ensuring cross-platform functionality on both Microsoft Windows and iOS. Being a web-based solution, WAVE PRO facilitates secure sharing and collaboration on designs among teams. The tool will automatically update to include the latest features and enhancements, including the integration of new technologies such as reverse osmosis, ion exchange resins, and nanofiltration into the planning tool.

Ultrafiltration serves as a critical method in water purification and filtration for a wide range of industrial, municipal, and commercial uses. Ultrafiltration membranes act as barriers to particles ranging from 0.02 to 0.05 microns, effectively removing bacteria, viruses, and colloids, thereby complying with increasingly rigorous global water quality standards.

By supporting sustainability objectives, ultrafiltration can operate without the need for pretreatment chemicals or the associated costs of sludge disposal. When utilized as a pretreatment for reverse osmosis (RO), UF minimizes RO membrane fouling, reducing chemical consumption and operational costs.

WAVE PRO is available for free on DuPont Water Solutions’ WaterApp, which features a variety of digital tools designed to assist water professionals—from optimizing membrane costs and carbon footprints in treatment plants to calculating ion exchange resin replacement needs.

DuPont Water Solutions’ technologies are currently purifying over 50 million gallons of water per minute across 112 countries worldwide. DuPont provides leading-edge technologies to tackle diverse challenges faced by municipalities in water treatment, seawater desalination facilities, and industrial water users, including those in the microelectronics sector, through a comprehensive range of membranes, resins, and complete systems. The team is also developing innovative solutions to address the growing demands for water and energy, with products that support electricity production, lithium extraction, and green hydrogen generation.
