DuPont Named “Most Sustainable” in the Water Sector by World Finance

WILMINGTON, Del., October 22, 2025 — DuPont Water Solutions has been recognized as the “Most Sustainable in the Water Sector” by World Finance Magazine for its technological innovations aimed at minimizing the carbon footprint associated with water purification, conservation, and reuse. The company was also acknowledged for the significance of the Water Solutions Sustainability Navigator, a novel digital tool developed by DuPont to assist water producers in estimating and comparing essential sustainability metrics of different water treatment technologies.

“At DuPont Water Solutions, our most significant positive influence on the planet stems from our innovations—enhancing water accessibility, treating and reusing more wastewater, and aiding our clients in achieving their sustainability goals while reducing water costs,” stated Karla Butler, Vice President and General Manager of DuPont Water Solutions. “We are grateful to World Finance for honoring us as the Most Sustainable in the Water Sector.”

DuPont Water Solutions consistently enhances the performance of its membranes, resins, and systems utilized by municipal water treatment facilities, seawater desalination plants, and industrial water consumers. DuPont’s product innovations yield multiple advantages within the water sector, such as decreased carbon emissions, lower energy consumption and waste, and ultimately reduced operational costs.

For instance, DuPont’s advanced FilmTec™ BW30 PRO-400 RO elements were designed to convert saline water sources into freshwater, ensuring water availability for industrial, energy, or municipal users at reduced operating pressures compared to earlier models. This product, first launched in 2022, was highlighted in an emissions avoidance case study published by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD).

Additionally, DuPont has introduced the Water Solutions Sustainability Navigator, the first digital tool enabling users to assess how various water treatment scenarios affect sustainability metrics like carbon emissions, chemical usage, wastewater generation, solid waste production, and required footprint—with calculations and indicators validated for ISO compliance by an external party. Currently, the tool permits users to evaluate four distinct water treatment technologies—reverse osmosis (RO), ultrafiltration (UF), ion exchange resins (IER), and membrane bioreactors (MBR)—either individually or in combinations.

DuPont Water Solutions’ technologies contribute to the purification of over 50 million gallons of water per minute across 112 countries worldwide. DuPont provides leading-edge technologies to tackle various challenges faced by municipal water treatment facilities, seawater desalination plants, and industrial water users, including the microelectronics sector, through an extensive range of membranes, resins, and complete systems. The team is also developing solutions to help balance the increasing global demands for water and energy, with products designed to optimize the availability of electricity, lithium, and green hydrogen.
