Kuwait to award sewage treatment plant expansion contract in Q1 2023

By the first quarter of 2023, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Public Works is anticipated to award the primary construction contract for the country’s North Kabd sewage treatment facility expansion.

The chosen company or consortia will be in charge of managing, operating, maintaining, and putting the expansion of the current Kabd sewage treatment plant and related facilities into place.

To reach a total capacity of 270,000 cubic meters per day, the treatment capacity will be raised by 90,000 cubic meters per day.

A person familiar with the project told ZAWYA that the expansion will cost a total of $500 million and should be finished by the fourth quarter of 2025.

The media outlet was also informed by the same source that “the primary construction contract tender was floated on July 24, 2022.

The bid submission deadline was twice moved from 23 August 2022 to 13 September and again to 16 October 2022, but no more justifications were provided.
