WABAG awarded $371 million Consortium Contract for Al Haer Independent Sewage Treatment Plant.

VA TECH WABAG (‘WABAG’), a prominent Indian multinational specializing in water technology, is actively enhancing its presence and reinforcing its leadership role in the Middle East by securing a substantial consortium contract valued at USD 371 million (approximately INR 3,251 crores) from Al Haer Environmental Services Company.

This contract pertains to the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (‘EPC’) of a 200 MLD Independent Sewage Treatment Plant (‘ISTP’), which includes connections to outfall delivery systems.

The ISTP is being constructed by a consortium led by Miahona Company, alongside Marafiq and N.V. Besix S.A., for the Saudi Water Partnership Company (‘SWPC’), the main off-taker for water and wastewater initiatives in Saudi Arabia.

Earlier this year, WABAG secured an Engineering and Procurement (‘EP’) contract for a 20 MLD Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant (‘IWWTP’) at the Ras Tanura Refinery Complex in Saudi Arabia, with Miahona Company serving as the project developer.

WABAG’s strong history with Miahona Company and its esteemed reputation in the Middle East, developed over four decades, along with a technically advanced proposal, were crucial in obtaining this repeat order from the Miahona Company Consortium. WABAG has been involved in building and operating water and wastewater treatment facilities in Saudi Arabia for many years, and this new contract further enhances its portfolio in the region.

The EPC consortium for this initiative includes WABAG and Mutlaq Al-Ghowairi Contracting Company (‘MGC’). As the Technology Partner and Leader of the EPC Consortium, WABAG will design and construct the 200 MLD Independent Sewage Treatment Plant, while MGC will be responsible for laying the transmission pipelines and building the reservoirs.

This ISTP aligns with the Kingdom’s ‘Vision 2030’, which seeks to provide dependable sewage treatment services and enhance the quality of life for its residents.

Regarding this contract win, Mr. Sivakumar V, Regional Head – Sales and Marketing, stated, “We are thrilled to have secured this 200 MLD Independent Sewage Treatment Plant order from our valued client. We extend our gratitude to Miahona Company, Marafiq, Besix Group, and SWPC for their trust in WABAG. This cutting-edge technology order underscores our technological excellence and our dedication to delivering high-quality solutions globally. This achievement represents another significant milestone for us in Saudi Arabia and reinforces our leadership in the Middle East.”
