SUEZ and IOWIZMI sign a 10-year contract for the pooling of remote reading infrastructures in France.

SUEZ, a global frontrunner in circular water and waste solutions, has entered into a strategic 10-year agreement with IOWIZMI, a subsidiary of gas distributor GRDF.

This partnership allows SUEZ to utilize GRDF’s network, which supports 11 million smart gas meters, for the remote reading of water meters. This initiative will streamline access for local authorities to a comprehensive remote reading service aimed at conserving water resources.

Under this contract, SUEZ, which has deployed 7 million smart water meters globally, will leverage GRDF’s 169 MHz network to gather data from its smart meters across France. This collaboration optimizes existing infrastructure for enhanced water management while minimizing economic and environmental impacts.

Remote meter reading is crucial for accurately monitoring water usage, aiding in consumption control. SUEZ’s Digital Solutions subsidiary has introduced ON’connect™, a digital metering and consumption tracking solution that can reduce water use by up to 16%.

This system enhances leak detection, allows for continuous consumption monitoring, and offers personalized guidance to users.

This agreement is part of the WIZE alliance, which includes around forty stakeholders, with SUEZ and GRDF as founding members. The alliance advocates for the adoption of connectivity solutions utilizing the open, royalty-free 169 MHz network, both in France and globally.

WIZE technology has proven effective for over a decade, delivering reliable, high-performance data transmission, even in challenging locations. It meets the unique needs for remote meter reading and resource management, offering a straightforward deployment process that achieves high performance without the need for repeaters or excessive antennas.
